Our Favourite Dog-Friendly Holidays
Thinking about planning that perfect summer holiday? Don’t forget your dog needs a holiday too! We’ve put together a list of our favourite dog-friendly places to stay in the UK from CoolStays.com, so you don’t have to leave your furry friend at home.
Nr Hay-on-Wye, Brecon Beacons
Painscastle Lane Cottage is a gorgeous 16thCentury property set in the bank of a hill. Totally remote and wonderfully rural, you and your family (dogs included!) can enjoy the breath-taking views of the Welsh countryside from this gorgeously cosy hidden gem, with original features including a wood burning stove. The Begwns hill, as heralded by the National Trust as having all the views but none of the climb has 580 acres of panoramic view – it’s possible to see nearly all of the Brecon Beacons from the top of the common. Walkies will never be the same again!
This wonderfully quirky hotel is the perfect place for a city break with your dog, just one minute away from the tube. Based in East London, the hotel is at the heart of what is London’s most lively square mile with some of the city’s best street food, art galleries, boutiques and creative businesses. We especially liked the fact that Qbic has been dubbed “the greenest hotel in town”, making sure everything they do is as environmentally-friendly as possible, from solar panels on the roof to mattresses made of natural, organic fibres!
St. Clether Launceston, Cornwall
These cosy geometric pods come complete with a bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom, with your very own terrace looking out onto the spectacular Cornish views. Set amongst acres of meadow with woodland and moorland close by, there’s no better place to enjoy the countryside with your furry friend by your side. If you’re looking for a tech-free getaway, these pods are completely free from electricity – but don’t panic, phone charging points are available at reception!
You and your dog will simply fall in love with these fairy-tale treehouse temples, nestled within the Norfolk woodlands. A truly magical place, you’ll find floating water meadows, ancient trees, lakes and formal gardens for you to explore, as well as an unusual and beautiful spot to rest your head. The treehouse comes with everything you need and more, including a wood-fired pizza oven, gas cooker and a quirky bathroom suite.
If you do like to be beside the seaside, Bournemouth Beach Lodges are just the ticket. Much more than beach huts, these two-level lodges have kitchens, bathrooms and sea-facing decks. Each lodge can sleep up to six guests – that’s four adults and two children – making them perfect for family getaways with your furry friend in tow. You can relax and admire the sea views, go for a swim, or take a stroll down the promenade – plus, the town is only a stone’s throw away!
