PREPARED THE BUTCHER’S WAY

We believe that every dog is special, and every dog deserves to eat a nutritious meal that keeps them happy and healthy. So we created Butcher’s –a wholesome, British-made bowlful, to nourish them like they nourish us.

WE PROMISE…

ALWAYS FROM BRITISH & IRISH FARMS

We only use British and Irish farms that we know and trust, and every recipe is carefully prepared right here in the heart of England.

ALWAYS NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Nothing is better for your dog than nature’s most nourishing food, so we only use natural ingredients in our recipes. No additives and no nasties.

BUTCHER’S, BAKERS AND RECIPE MAKERS

Butcher’s began with a pair of Bakers – Fred and Alice Baker, that is – and the butcher shop they opened in Rugby, Warwickshire. Over 30 years, Fred and his four sons built up a thriving family business, rearing and selling livestock as well as preparing and selling quality British meat to local markets and butchers as far afield as Birmingham and London.

THE ORIGINAL RECIPE

In the 60s, under a second generation of Bakers, Butcher’s began supplying the grocery chain J Sainsbury’s. Then, youngest son Graham Baker applied his in-depth knowledge of meat to the development of the original Butcher’s tripe recipe food for dogs. As tasty as it was nutritious, it was an instant success when it went on sale in 1987.

MAKE A PAWSOME CHOICE

Here at Butcher’s we only want the best for our dogs – not just by giving them nourishing food, but by protecting the environment they live in. So we’ve taken crucial steps to reduce our environmental paw print, and help dog owners do the same.

This year, we removed the plastic shrink-wrap packaging from our can multi-packs, and replaced with recyclable and biodegradable cardboard. This could save 92 tonnes of plastic wrap per year which is equivalent to 4.2 million plastic bottles!

Our plastic free pledge

To keep dogs as happy and healthy as possible, we’ve taken crucial steps towards using more sustainable materials, and in turn helping our customers to recycle. We’ve removed the plastic shrink-wrap packaging from our can multi-packs, and replaced with recyclable and biodegradable cardboard. Our new boxes are the first of their kind in the pet care market to be manufactured in the UK, and could save up to 92 tonnes of plastic wrap per year. That’s equivalent to 4.2 million plastic bottles! Also, the cardboard we use is sourced from managed sustainable forests, where harvested trees are always replanted.
